Commitment to Financial Transparency and Accountability

At Crescent Cove, we are dedicated to financial transparency and accountability to our donors and the public. We support ongoing efforts to ensure that public programs operate responsibly and with integrity, and we welcome transparent, fact-based dialogue about their impact. Crescent Cove remains steadfast in our commitment to ethical stewardship of resources and full compliance with all applicable regulations.

Minnesota has long been a national leader in health care, and after more than a year of focused efforts to combat fraud, it is emerging as a model for program integrity nationwide.

Medicaid remains an essential lifeline for the children and families we serve at Crescent Cove. Safeguarding this critical resource is central to our mission of caring for families when they need it most.

Annual Pediatric Palliative Care Symposium

Crescent Cove hosts an annual Pediatric Palliative Care Symposium to advance knowledge of the needs families have so that advances may be made to provide essential support. Families, clinicians and policy makers join together for meaningful learning and dialogue on a variety of topics within the field of Pediatric Palliative Care.

Reimbursement through Medicaid Waivers Help Pay for Care

In 2018, Crescent Cove was approved by the Minnesota Department of Human Services to access reimbursement for children on the State of Minnesota Medicaid waiver program and began receiving reimbursement in December 2019. We work closely with families to access funding where possible. As of 2024, 23% of our funding is Medicaid waiver funding, while the remaining 77% is philanthropy.

Legislation and Licenses

In 2016, Crescent Cove worked with Representative Nick Zerwas, Senator John Hoffman, and lobbyists from Faegre Baker Daniels LLC to amend state law to include “children and young adults” under licensure through the Minnesota Department of Health. The bill passed in June 2016 and was signed by Governor Mark Dayton—allowing Crescent Cove to operate under a Residential Hospice License.

In 2024 legislation was passed to allow Crescent Cove to access funding for end-of-life care for families on Medical Assistance.

Today, we continue to advocate for families of children with complex medical conditions and life-limiting conditions for services to care for their children.

Pediatric Palliative Care Education Support

Together with clinical providers and pediatric healthcare leaders, Crescent Cove is preparing curriculum to present to local schools of Medicine, Nursing and Social Work to advance support available to kids and families. Additionally, Crescent Cove is developing a program to integrate student nurses to expand educational opportunities within pediatric palliative care settings.
