Crescent Cove is working to build a home where families can stay for respite or end-of-life care. Since this home hasn’t been built yet, Crescent Cove and it’s donors have begun to cover the costs for a number of families to stay at Faith’s Lodge in Danbury, Wisconsin during the weekends that Faith’s Lodge has allocated for families currently caring for a child with a shortened life expectancy or who is seriously ill. Typically, Faith’s Lodge is available as a retreat location for bereaved families. If you or your family is interested in this experience, please talk to your child’s doctor. Clinicians caring for children who have a shortened life expectancy must refer eligible families to Crescent Cove to stay at Faith’s Lodge for a respite weekend.
The weekends in 2015 when Crescent Cove will cover the cost for families to stay at Faith’s Lodge include:
- June 23-29
- July 4th weekend
- July 21-26
- August 18-23
- September 17-20
Integrative therapies such as massage therapy, healing touch, reflexology, music therapy, creative arts and spiritual care will be provided to children and their families when they stay at Crescent Cove’s home once it is built. These are services that are often not covered by a child’s medical health plan and yet can provide essential comfort and relief from pain and anxiety along the journey.
In 2014, Crescent Cove and it’s donors began to cover the cost for families to receive some of these services from designated professionals in the pediatric healthcare field. In 2015 it is Crescent Cove’s goal to serve 30 families in the Twin Cities with these services. If you are served by a clinician at a pediatric healthcare organization in the Twin Cities and are interested in this offering, please talk to your child’s doctor who must refer you to Crescent Cove.
