OUR MISSION
Crescent Cove offers care and support to children and young adults with shortened life-expectancies, and to their families who love them.
The Crescent Cove Respite & Hospice Home for Kids is a vibrant and joyful home-away-from home for kids with life-threatening conditions, where each moment is embraced and celebrated. All services are provided at no out-of-pocket cost to families, thanks to the generosity of donors who make this possible.
MAKING MOMENTS COUNT FOR KIDS & FAMILIES
The first and only Home in Minnesota and the third in the United States
Visitors can sense that there is something special the moment they walk in the door of our Home on Twin Lake in Brooklyn Center, MN. Dreamed of since 2009 and open since 2018, Crescent Cove provides respite and end-of-life care to families of children with shortened life expectancies.
For families with medically fragile children, every day is a gift and the current moment is the only one that matters. This is why we focus on Making Moments Count.
Kids and young adults ages 0-21 years old are able to stay in one of five bedrooms for overnight respite and, as needed, as a sacred place at the end-of-life. Each bedroom has a view of Twin Lake, and common spaces like the sensory room, playroom, and living room area also face the calming shoreline. Nurses provide compassionate and expert nursing care 24 hours a day to children in our Home, while other staff and volunteers work to make every day the “Best Day Ever” by engaging kids in music or pet therapy, art activities, energy work or massage.
Give
Your gift will help children and young adults with life-limiting conditions live as fully as possible to the last moment of life.
DID YOU KNOW?
- Thousands of children and young adults in Minnesota have a life-threatening condition.
- Over 700 children die each year in Minnesota; nearly half of those children could potentially benefit from a children’s hospice home.
- In metro areas around the United States, there are more than 4,700 hospice homes for adults, but Crescent Cove is only the third designed just for children and their unique needs.
- Only 4 pediatric respite and hospice homes exist in the US. In comparison, more than 50 such homes exist in the UK, a country whose population is one-fifth the size of ours. If we were to truly meet the need that exists in our country, there should be 266 children’s hospice homes in the United States.
- Families access Crescent Cove’s services at no out-of-pocket cost to them, thanks to the generosity of donors.
