Respite Support Services
Respite care are overnight stays of typically 3-5 days where Crescent Cove takes over the medical care of a child so their parents can take a break from providing that care. During a respite stay parents who have been thrust into the role of full-time caregivers can spend much needed time resting and recharging, or spending quality time with other children in their family. At the same time, their medically complex child is receiving exceptional compassionate care, while also enjoying many experiences at our Home.
The following support services and activities are provided at no cost to children and families during respite stays at the Respite & Hospice Home for Kids, and are also offered during end-of-life care at Crescent Cove.
Thank you to our donors for making respite support services possible.
Integrative Therapies
Integrative therapies can ease pain, reduce anxiety, and improve quality of life for children with life-limiting conditions. Though often not covered by insurance, these services bring essential comfort and connection.
During respite stays, children and families can benefit from massage, music and pet therapy, energy work like Qi Gong and Reiki, and yoga.
In response to the Covid-19 pandemic, we also created a library of virtual integrative therapy resources, view them here.
Spiritual Care & Counseling Support
We connect families through a variety of programming, connecting moms, dads, and siblings of children with complex medical conditions in a variety of ways. We offer spiritual care by a network of spiritual leaders. Bereavement and grief support are also provided to families.
Home Activities
We fill Crescent Cove with joy through birthday and holiday celebrations, character visits, art, baking, and outdoor adventures like pontoon rides on Twin Lakes. Many of these activities are made possible by our generous volunteers, including photographers who offer free family photo sessions.
