Back-to-School Fun

A tree on our property already has a few branches of leaves that have changed colors, and that means one thing: autumn is upon us. And with autumn comes back-to-school time for kids and their families.

Last Thursday more than 100 people attended Crescent Cove’s back-to-school event at our Home and the weather couldn’t have been more beautiful! Families took part in a photo booth, using a table full of props to capture silly smiles and energetic expressions. They could also get portraits taken by a professional photographer, then eat hot dogs grilled by volunteers.

The Minnesota Women of Today hosted a “candy buffet” and snack table, where kids could choose from a variety of candy to fill a container. We are also grateful for CarMax, which had a school supply donation drive at their facility, then volunteered their time to hand out the supplies to children and families.

TinkerBell made an appearance, along with Viktor the Viking of the Minnesota Vikings. And the Blue Moon ice cream truck was a fan favorite!

The best part of this event was that parents got to walk the property and see the beautiful home that their children experience during their stays. The musical instruments in the music garden got LOTS of playtime by kids and adults alike! We were touched by parents of children who had passed who attended the event because their child loved Crescent Cove and they want to stay connected with our Home.

You can view photos from the event in our Facebook album. We wish all of our families a successful start to the school year, and hope that our back-to-school event helped make this time of year all the more special!
